I would like to thank the voters of Mason County for their faith in me in the November election. Even though I lost the county-wide election, I am proud to say that I received the most votes in District 2. The voters in Maysville decided the election results.

While campaigning, many voters who live in District 2 and District 3 complained that they resent Maysville voters deciding the election outcomes in their districts. They know they have no say in deciding city commission – and they believe the city voters should have no say, except in the district where they reside.

A way to remedy this is to change to a Magisterial form of governing to replace the Commissioner form of government we currently have. Most surrounding counties have Magistrates instead of Commissioners. The main difference – Magistrates represent a district, and only the voters in that district decide who they want to represent them.

To do this would mean gathering enough signatures to get this on the ballot to be voted upon by Mason County voters.

I do not plan to run again, but I believe, those interested in running would have an easier and less expensive challenge ahead of them if Mason County had a Magisterial government. I also believe the districts would have the representation those district voters choose and not one every voter in the county chooses.
