Making changes isn’t easy

Change is tough…

At 59 years of age I’ve seen my fair share of change and it’s tough. People get set in their ways and I’m no stranger to that. When I go to a restaurant I generally eat the same thing because I know what to expect. Don’t believe me? Ask my friends, or better yet ask my wife, she can probably tell you exactly what I’ll eat at each restaurant we frequent.

I have a routine I like to follow in the morning and I lay everything out the night before so that’s not upset. All it takes is a button to come off a shirt and there goes my morning. I know some of you are sitting there nodding in agreement and others are like, “Say what?” I’m a bit of a creature of habit or some may call me a little OCD, and I’d have to agree. Some of this spills over into my work life. Well, to be honest it all spills over into my work life and lately we’ve had some changes around The Ledger Independent.

As most of you are aware, we were acquired by Champion Media LLC on Feb. 1. We were part of a very large publically traded company and now we are part of a smaller family-owned company. We were used to doing things a certain way and with the acquisition came some change. Perhaps the biggest of which we’ve been implementing over the past week, unhooking our systems from our former owners and moving over to our new owners. That means new email addresses, a new website provider, a new team putting our paper together for us, our team having to learn these new systems, and the list goes on.

I’m not going to bore you with the all of the details because when it’s all said and done, the one thing that you care about is having the paper delivered to your doorstep or device in a consistent and timely manner. For the most part that’s happened but we’ve had a few glitches along the way and thankfully you, our loyal readers, have been patient with us. You may have noticed our message in yesterday’s paper on A3 giving you an overview. Our staff at The Ledger Independent has been diligently working to make sure you don’t miss a beat but as it is with any change there are always challenges. We are working through those and we will get it right, I assure you of that.

As we are in the midst of these changes, I welcome your comments and suggestions on how we can be better at what we do. Feel free to call me directly, send me an email or use our Comment Line (yes, I do read them) to let me know how we are doing or offer suggestions. Our goal is to deliver the best local and regional community news possible within the seven-county area we serve. It’s our job and something this community has come to expect.

Thank you for being a loyal reader, we appreciate you very much.
