FLEMINGSBURG — Pearl Iona Opal Hamm Dunaway Vice, 89, of Wallingford, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Eagle Creek Nursing Center in West Union, Ohio.

Opal was born in Rowan County on June 23, 1930, to the late Cella and Pricie Caudill Hamm.

Opal was a Christian lady who loved the Lord. She sang in church with her father and sister Myrle. She loved playing string instruments and the piano. Opal was a hard worker and a great cook who was a fun loving, happy, and kind-hearted woman. She was greatly loved by her family. She was retired from Randall’s in Flemingsburg after 40 years of service.

Opal is survived by her sons, David Dunaway and Randy Dunaway; her grandchildren, Kevin Dunaway, Bradley Dunaway, and Jay Dunaway; two great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

In addition to her first husband, Clayton Dunaway, and her second husband, Roger Vice; and her parents, Opal was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Clyde Dunaway; her grandchild, Christopher Dunaway; her siblings, George W. Hamm, Kessie Lyle Hamm, Arlie Hamm, Roy Richard Hamm, Kenneth R. Hamm, Zella Mae Feltner, Sarah Myrle Reeves, and Lily Alice Hamm; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Dunaway.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Conley officiating.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
