MANCHESTER, Ohio — Shirley J Wilson, 76, of West Union, Ohio, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.

She was born in Manchester to the late Elmer Allen and Rosa Belle (Waits) Grooms.

Shirley was retired from Kroger, where she worked in the deli. She attended the Manchester and Aberdeen Church of the Nazarene. Shirley loved singing to her husband and especially loved country music. She was an avid UK and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Shirley really enjoyed traveling to many different places including Nashville. She loved being with her family, especially her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sons, Johnny R. Wilson and Robert D. Wilson Jr.; and her siblings, Norma Barr, Joan Boone and Harold Allen.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert “Doug” Wilson of West Union; her children, Danny Lewis of Milford, Ohio, Shirley “Sissy” Lewis of West Union; her stepchildren, Kathy Ann (Robert) Dees, Sherry Lynn Commodore and David Allen (Cathy) Wilson, all of Missouri; her brother, Tommy (Marilyn) Allen of Merser, Pa., 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Shirley at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Wilson Home for Funerals. Rev Tony Watson will be officiating.

The family requests anyone wishing to bring food for a meal following the service to do so at the Manchester Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.
