FLEMINGSBURG — James Edward “Jim” McVey Sr., 84, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Fleming County Hospital.

Born on Nov. 4, 1934, in Fleming County, he was the son of the late Chester Ham McVey and the late Mary S. McGlothlin McVey.

He worked in maintenance for Randall Manufacturing for 22 and a half years and was Fleming County Jailer from 1982-86. He was of the Christian faith.

Jim is survived by his children, Joyce Richmond, Jerry McKee, Gary McKee and wife, Dianne, Mary Doyle and husband, Darrell, Norma Johnson, Joanna Smith and husband, Steve and James “Jimmy” McVey Jr., and wife, Denise; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Chester and Mary, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Reeves McVey; his son, Glenn McVey; his granddaughter, Becky Richmond; his son-in-law, Joe Richmond; and his daughter-in-law, Judith McKee.

Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Conley officiating.

Jim will be laid to rest in Goddard Cemetery beside his wife, Evelyn. Pallbearers include Kenny Richmond, Brian McKee, Jeremy Johnson, Jonathon Johnson, Jimmy McVey, Joshua Smith, Zachary Smith, Hayden Hall and Cody McVey. Honorary pallbearers include Darrell Doyle, Steve Smith, Anthony Parker, Danny Richmond and Bill Conley.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
