MAYSVILLE — Phyllis Rose (Childers) Hay passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the age of 80.

She was a devoted wife to the late Coleman “Tony” Hay for 56 years and a loving mother to her two sons, Police Officer Danny Hay, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Oct. 16, 1979, and Philip (Julie) Hay of Maysville. Her granddaughter, Jessica Danielle Hay, was the light of her life and brought her immense joy.

Phyllis is also survived by a sister, Ernestine Farrand; a sister-in-law, Mabel Childers; a special niece and caregiver, Donna Jones; and several other wonderful nieces and nephews. She also leaves three other “grandchildren,” Reece Hull, Sydney Dawson and Abigail Dawson, whom she loved dearly.

Besides her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Childers and Lula Mae Risner; a brother, Sidney Childers; and a sister, Jean Houchens.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Brell and Son Funeral Home with Police Chaplain Tony Liess presiding.

Burial will be in the Maysville cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
