MAYSVILLE — Maurine Werline Lyman, 100, of Covington, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the residence of her granddaughter.

Mrs. Lyman was the widow of James Lyman. She served in the Women’s Army Corp during World War II from 1943 to 1946. During her time of service, she received the Victory Medal, WAAC Service Ribbon, and American Theater Ribbon among other distinction.

Maurine was born in Trinity on May 31, 1918, the daughter of the late Darius and Goldie Belle Werline.

Survivors include her son, Brandon J. Lyman of Tamarac, Fla.; her granddaughter, Cassandra West (Jim) of Covington; her great-granddaughter, Everleigh West; and her niece, Lucille Clark of Maysville.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Willard Werline, Frances Henderson, Grace Bishop, Ester Watson, Darius “Bud” Werline, Oretha Clark and Maxine Jones and her nephew, Garry Clark.

Memorial services for Maurine Lyman will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at noon on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, with Rev. Tony Liess officiating.

Her cremains will be interred in the Maysville Cemetery with military honors performed by the Simon Kenton VFW Post 2734.

There will be no visitation prior to the service.
