VERMILION, Ohio — Dale Denman Truitt, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.

Born Sept. 18, 1941 in Adams County, Ohio, Dale retired from E and L Transport Company in 1997. Dale was a loving and dedicated husband of 56 years to his wife, Shirley (Crump) Truitt, love and admired by his daughter, Kristina (Truitt) Wilson (husband, Larry Wilson) and son, Ricky Dale Truitt (wife, Kim Truitt); adored by his four grandchildren, Dylon Wyatt Wilson, Daniel Lewis Truitt, Dalton Garret Wilson and Bradley Joe Truitt; loved by his sister, Sandy Bartlett (Angus Bartlett); and his brother-in-law, Kenny Crump (Sandy Crump); and his nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Truitt (Robert Truitt); and his father, Dewey Mounts (Eva Mounts).

Dale lived and raised his family in Vermilion since 1973. He served as a member of the U.S. Army. Dale was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vermilion. He was an avid bowler and spent over 50 years traveling and bowling in leagues around Lorain County, Ohio. He was a member of the Bowlers Association. He was a racing fan and enjoyed Saturday night racing at local tracks. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends and family to share stories.

Dale leaves his legacy of his family, bowling and many, many friendships he built throughout his life, but also his storytelling and laughter that will be missed beyond words for all of those that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visit with family on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vermilion, for a church service with Rev. Mark Jones followed by a luncheon and celebration of life service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care.

As he gave in life, he is also giving his death. His body was donated to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for medical research.
