MAY’S LICK — Elsie Mae “Pooch” Sweet, 91, of May’s Lick passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at the Care Center at Kenton Point.

She was the widow of Winnie Estill Sweet.

She was born in Mason County on May 5, 1927, daughter of the late Gilbert and Carrie Poe Gifford.

She was a homemaker, school bus driver and farmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan of Lexington and a son Jeffrey (Sheila) Sweet of May’s Lick; five grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) Brooks, Elizabeth Brooks, Kyle, Kody and Kobe Sweet; step-grandson, Kevin Darnell; great-grandchildren, Austin and Haven; a sister, Cecil Fulton of May’s Lick.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and two sisters, Ailene Major and Sue Carol Gifford; two brothers, Joe Gifford and Wayne Gifford; and a grandson, Scotty Brooks.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m.,Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home and Crematory in May’s Lick with Chaplain Keith Sergent officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Brooks, Kyle, Kody and Kobe Sweet, Jason Gifford, Larry Parkey, Keith Fulton and Jeff Brammer. Honorary pallbearer will be Elizabeth Brooks.

Visitation 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
