MAYSVILLE — Betty W. Barry, age 85, passed away Aug. 31, 2018, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.
She was born in Orangeburg May 7, 1933, to the late Elza and Attie Kate Highlander Whalen.
On Nov. 23, 1955, she married Martin Edward Barry, who passed away April 5, 1970.
Betty was a 1952 graduate of Orangeburg High School a member of St Patrick Church and was a retiree after 38 years with ATT.
She enjoyed her retirement she volunteered for the Maysville Welcome Center, St. Patrick Altar Society, St. Patrick school lunch room and she liked cruising the back roads. Betty also enjoyed St. Patrick Basketball Games.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa May (Omer) of Maysville; Tracey Carroll (Mike) of Lexington; grandchildren, Doug Waldren (Courtney) of Virginia Beach, Va.; Barry Waldren of Maysville; Sarah Duvall (Adam) of Austin, Texas; Martin Barry III of Louisville; Addie Barry of Florence; Robyn Carroll of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Cullen Black, Amelia Waldren of Virginia Beach and Gavin, Owen and Avery Duvall of Austin.
Beside her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Martin E. Barry Jr.; and was the last of her siblings, Dick Whalen, Elizabeth Markey, Ruth Fritz, Pat Whalen and Elza Whalen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 5, 2018, at Saint Patrick Church with Rev. Jacob Straub celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. at Brell and Son Funeral Home.
