MAYSVILLE — Cecil “Herman” Hamilton, son of John Alexander Hamilton and Nola Jane Fryman Hamilton, went home to be with his “King Jesus” on Aug. 5 at 3:04 p.m. at the Kenton Pointe Hospice Center in Maysville.

Cecil Hamilton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957–59. When coming home he met his wife Elsie Lee Cord. They were wed on the 23rd day of December in the year of 1961.

Cecil was the founder of the Minerva Full Gospel Church where he served as the pastor for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elsie along with his four children, Beverly (Johnny Vise Jr.) of Hillsboro, Cecil Hamilton Jr. of Maysville, Brian Hamilton (Tammy) of Dover and Jamie (Tina) Hamilton of Wallingford; also Faye Myers of Maysville. He is also survived by one sister, Bonnie Dugan of Lewisburg; and one sister-in-law, Alene Hamilton of Dover. Cecil and Elsie have 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; along with other children who have called him papaw for years.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alex “Peanuts” Hamilton, Charles “Bill Pie” Hamilton and Leonard Hamilton; and one sister, Francis Plummer.

Services for Cecil Herman Hamilton will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at Brell and Son Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Maysville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Maysville VFW Post 2734.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Minerva Full Gospel Church.
