TOLLESBORO — Mrs. Phyllis Ann Osborne Stanfield, age 76, of Tollesboro, passed away Wednesday evening, July 25, 2018, surrounded by loved ones at her residence.

She was born May 4, 1942 on Cabin Creek in Lewis County, a daughter of the late John Oscar and Eliza Jane Hook Osborne.

In her earlier years, Phyllis worked on the farm in dairy, hay and tobacco, always taking her children to the field with her as she worked. She loved cooking for her family and for anyone who visited. No one ever left her house hungry. She also enjoyed quilting and collecting antiques.

Phyllis drove a bus for the Lewis County School system (Tollesboro) for 42 years, retiring in 2015. She loved and enjoyed all the kids who were fortunate enough to ride her bus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald Merritt Stanfield in 2015; five brothers, Delmar Osborne, Wendell Osborne, Shelby Osborne, Lowell Osborne and Davie Osborne; and one sister, Wanda Rankin.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Tammi Darrell Boling (Jackie) of Flemingsburg; three sons, Donald Brett Stanfield (Denise), Darren Scott Stanfield (Beverly) and Brian Kelly Stanfield (Dana), all of Tollesboro, seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a special cousin, Sue Hendrickson Hughes of Tollesboro; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Mrs. Stanfield will be cremated.

Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is caring for all arrangements.

At the discretion of her family, a memorial will be set at a later date with burial in the Burtonville Cemetery.
