AUGUSTA — Isaac Appleman Weldon, 74, of Augusta, died at his residence on Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Isaac was born on June 17, 1944, in Augusta to his parents, the late James W. and Elizabeth A. Weldon.

Isaac graduated in 1968 from Morehead State University with a master’s degree in education. Prior to retirement, he served as a teacher, counselor, and principal at Silver Grove High School in Silver Grove, and was a member of the Kentucky Education Association. He also previously served as mayor of the city of Augusta and was a member of St. Augustine Church.

He leaves behind one brother, Nicholas T. (Charlotte) Weldon of Middletown, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marianne Waterfield Weldon; three nieces, Nicole Collins (Wayne Jr.), Ashley Wright (Keith) and Amanda Frey (Aaron); and one nephew, Dr. Brandon Weldon (Julie). Survivors also include several cousins; and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James W. Weldon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Augustine Church in Augusta with Rev. Ross Kelsch presiding and Deacon Frank Estill assisting.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 5-7 p.m., at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta. Prayers will be at 6:45 p.m.

Interment will be in the Augusta Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorials, if desired, are suggested in the form of Masses in the care of St. Augustine Church, or to the Fr. Dan Saner Scholarship Fund, 215 E 4th Street, Augusta, Ky. 41002.
