AUGUSTA — Robert “Bob” A. England, 78, of Augusta died Monday, June 11, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.
Mr. England was born in Bracken County, on Sept. 13, 1939, to the late James E. and Lorena Henson England.
He was pastor at Sharon Presbyterian Church, former member of the Augusta Masonic Lodge, and a United States Army veteran.
Mr. England worked at Allis-Chamlers from 1957-1958, then attended Barber College from 1959-1960. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1963-1965. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began working at GE in 1965, where he was a machinist and purchasing agent. Mr. England was later employed at various vocational schools as a machine and blue print reading instructor.
Bob loved music, and played guitar at a variety of venues including Renfro Valley; and with several different musical talents such as Country Express, Glory Land Quartet, Gospel Echoes. He also played with friends, Marty Lucas, Jeff Lytle, Pat Feagan, Wes England, Doyle Brooks, Wayne and Sue Vickers, and Paul Mefford, as well as many other talented friends.
He is survived by his wife, Margie J. Sayers England whom he married Aug. 12, 1967. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Judy) England and Jeffrey (Shay) England, both of Augusta. Bob is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Melissa (Lee) Gardner, Susan (Ashley) Garrett, Laura (Blaine) Beach, Clacie England, Sean Gardner, Katelyn Gardner, Grady Garrett and Michael Ginn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sharon K. Sayers; and special family by heart, Stacy (Dave) LaPlant and girls, and Seth Lane Stephenson.
Service will be 1 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018, at Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday at the church.
