FORT WRIGHT — Ida Margaret Hummeldorf-Wells (nee Means) was born Jan. 1, 1934 in Maysville, the daughter of late Maysville City Fireman Lloyd Powell Means and Mary Theresa Gibbons Means McDonough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Commander Charles Thomas Wells; her sister, Suzanne Marie Means; and grandchild, Austin Cole Hummeldorf of La Vergne, Tenn.
Ida attended St. Patrick Grade and High School in Maysville, graduating in class of 1952. She attended the Nazareth School of Nursing St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, class of 1955. She wa a registered nurse, never retired and employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Hayswood Hospital in Maysville, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington C.C.A.T. in Cincinnati, Home Health over 10 years with visiting nurse association, Intermin Health Care in Kentucky and Ohio.
She and her late husband traveled Canada and every State in the United States, including Nova Scotia. Sh enjoyed reading and collecting bells from North and South America, Europe and the far east.
She is survived by her loving children, Antoinette Hummeldorf, Regina Sunderhaus (Dan), Loretta Olmstead (John), James L. Hummeldorf II (Beth), Eric Hummeldorf, Dr. Kurt Hummeldorf (Dotty), Francine Thomas (Darren) and Aaron Hummeldorf (Wendy); she was a loving grandmother of 33 and of six great-grandchildren; a dear sister of Sue Beckman (Paul); dear aunt of David Beckman (Terri), Greg Beckman, Susanne Beckman and Suzanne Beckman.
Visitation was be Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in Maysville.
Mass of Christian Burial followed at 1 p.m. A Second Visitation was at Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Wright from 5-8 p.m.
A second Mass will take place at St. Paul Church in Florence at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
