FLEMINGSBURG | Ilene Hamm Akers, 82, of Wallingford, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the home of her daughter.

She was born June 5, 1930, in Mazie, to the late Vinson and Easter Lester.

Mrs. Akers had been a wonderful Christian lady since she was 16, and she loved to sew, quilt and crochet. She was a founding member of the Fox Valley Community Church and worked at Randalls for 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle Hamm and husband, Clayton Akers; son, Proctor Hamm; and two brothers, Idas Lester and Harmon Lester.

She is survived by her children, Patty Hamm (Lynn) Bailey, Theresa Hamm (Mike) Rice, Shirley Akers (Butch) Kearns, Wanda Akers, Sandy Akers (Woodie) Brown, Clayton Akers and Donald Akers; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ishmael Lester, Joe Lester, Ronald Lester and Donald Lester; and sister, Pauline Wheeler.

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Fox Valley Community Church with Bro. Darrell Marshall and Rev. Lenny Wheeler officiating.

Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sol Rice, Brian Hall, Doug Compton, Paul Taylor, Darrell Compton and Bill Ingram.

Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Sunday at the Boone Nickell Funeral Home and 8 – 10 a.m., at the church on Monday.
