A grand opening celebration for Gordmans will be held on March 3 in Maysville.

According to Kristen Whitman, spokesperson for Gordmans, there are 25 Gordmans opening in Kentucky on that date and Maysville is among them.

Gordman’s will be replacing Goody’s, though both are owned by the same parent company, Stage Stores.

“Both Goody’s and Gordmans are part of the Stage community of stores. Gordmans is an off-price retailer, which means that it has a wide array of merchandise for the entire family at the lowest possible prices compared to department stores. Gordmans, which has been delighting shoppers for more than 100 years, has fresh new merchandise deliveries arriving weekly; there will always be something new to discover when it comes to popular name brand apparel, home décor, footwear, gifts, accessories, fragrances and more for the whole family,” Graham said.

According to Stage Stores President and CEO Michael Glazer, during the grand openings of each store, a local school district will be recognized and $1,000 will be donated to the school. In Maysville, the Mason County High School will receive the donation.

“At our Grand Opening Brand Bash Celebrations, we’re inviting area communities to join city representatives at the ribbon cuttings where we will recognize and support local schools,” said Glazer. “We are proud to be part of so many Kentucky communities, helping to sustain jobs, quality of life and economic growth. Just as exciting is our strategy in bringing the Gordmans shopping experience to almost all of our department store locations across the country during 2020 and positively impacting even more cities.”

Maysville-Mason County Industrial Authority Director Owen McNeill said the move was a positive one for Maysville.

“With the conversion from Goody’s to Gordmans, the Stage Group is betting on the Maysville economy in a positive way. The transition to the more up-scale Gordmans only underscores the growing confidence national and regional big box retailers have in the Maysville regional market. New retail options such as Gordmans, Harbor Freight and others serve as a barometer of economic activity and the City of Maysville, Mason County and the MMCIDA appreciates their investment and continued support of our community. Developers are noticing the positive economic activity in our area represented by increased retail receipts, traffic counts and other indicators which is leading to a renewed interest and attracting additional retail players to the Maysville market,” he said.

The grand opening will begin at 9 a.m. on March 3.
