BROOKSVILLE — Two people were recently indicted by a Bracken County grand jury on charges related to making false statements and not paying child support.

Joy Wallingford Damron, 52, was indicted on one count making a false statement or misrepresentation to receive benefits over $100 and one count first-degree being a persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, between May 1, 2018 and Nov. 30, 2018, Damron allegedly obtained Medicaid benefits while “knowingly making a false statement or failing to disclose a material fact used in determining her qualification to receive Medicaid benefits by not reporting her wages received from her employment.”

The alleged false statements resulted in an over payment of benefits in the amount of $6,094.01, according to the indictment.

The indictment said the first count could carry a sentence of one to five years if convicted.

In an unrelated case, Lowell Gene Durham Jr., 47, was indicted on one count flagrant non-support.

According to the indictment, between Oct. 1, 2015 and May 31, 2019, Durham allegedly “failed to provide child support for his child/children.”

Durham allegedly has arrearages of $9,040, according to the indictment.
