AUGUSTA — Camp Harmony in Bracken County is accepting registration for the day-long camp.

This is the seventh year for the camp, which caters to children living with disabilities, according to camp co-coordinator Allison Parker. She and Terri Srinivasan organize the camp together.

The camp stations will include fishing, animal care, horseback riding, arts/crafts, music, wagon ride, water play and inflatables.

EarthJoy tree climbing adventures will also be on site during the day, according to Parker.

“We had them last year and they were a big hit,” she said. “They’re coming back this year. We’ll also have Circle H Farms again, who does the horseback riding.”

Food and beverages will be provided by the Triple Ridge Homemakers group, but children with dietary restrictions may need to bring their own lunch.

Parker said the camp began because David and Karen Swolsky wanted to provide activities for children with special needs.

“Karen had this on her heart,” Parker said. “She wanted to be able to provide something for children with special needs and we all got together to make this happen.”

According to Parker, everyone continues to be excited about putting the camp together.

“We’re just as excited now to put this one for the children in our community as we were seven years ago,” she said. “We love being able to provide for the children.”

The camp will take place on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Swolsky and Wehling farms, at 3165 Dover Road in Augusta.

Volunteers will be available throughout the day to assist families.

“We’re so grateful for our volunteers who come out to help during the day,” she said. “This event would not be possible without them.”

Anyone wishing to attend the camp must register by June 1, 2019.

In order to register, contact [email protected] or [email protected] or call 716-515-8019 or 606-301-3842.

Children attending the camp must be accompanied by an adult and a liability waiver must be signed.
