FLEMINGSBURG — Licking Valley Community Action Program is currently seeking a finance director for the agency.

A job listing for the position was recently posted for applicants after the departure of former director Onaconnie Muse. Interim Executive Director Florence Tandy said Muse’s departure was a decision made by the agency.

“It’s a personnel decision that the agency has made, so I’m not going to get into personnel decisions, but the board and I discussed the need to move on from the past and so a different direction with our finance office seemed like a good time,” she said.

Chairman of the LVCAP Board of Directors Larry Foxworthy declined to comment in regards to the nature of Muse’s departure. According to Foxworthy, to the best of his knowledge, Muse had been finance director of the agency for about 20 years.

According to the listing, the finance director is responsible for planning fiscal management, payroll, contracts and risk management for the organization. Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field.

Due to the timing of when the job opening was posted, along with there only being a handful of applicants for the position, according to Tandy, once a large enough applicant pool is achieved it will be more than likely that new Executive Director Kenneth Walters will be responsible for selecting the next finance director.

For Foxworthy, he said the focus now is to get Walters in place as executive director, to get him familiar with LVCAP and to inform him of the state the agency has come from, and where it intends to go.

“We feel like with his experience and knowledge, and with what we can share with him, we’ll be able to hire the right person,” he said.
