BROOKSVILLE — Bracken and Robertson counties have some upcoming road projects schedule,d state officials said.

Bracken County was recently awarded funds for two road projects.

Judge-Executive Tina Teegarden said the county recently received approval for the 80/20 bridge project in order to replace the bridge over Hillsdale Road.

According to Teegarden, the total cost of the project is $34,000, but the county will receive 80 percent of the funding, which will be $27,200.

“I’m applying for the rubberized asphalt for that road,” she said. “But the bridge is old and worn down and I didn’t want to put that asphalt on an old bridge.”

Teegarden said the county has to monitor the asphalt for five years once it receives it and she thought it would be better to have the asphalt on a new bridge.

“Once the new bridge has been installed, we will put down the asphalt over it,” she said.

Teegarden also said the county received $81,922 in emergency road aid in order to repair a second slip on Old Kentucky 19. The slip is located 1.1 miles north of Kentucky 19.

“My goal is to repair all of the slips in our county and stabilize the roads,” she said. “I want to be able to put them on the blacktop list, but I can’t do that with roads that may not last.”

In Robertson County, Kentucky 539, also known as Pinhook Road, will be closed to through traffic April 30 and May 1 due to a culvert replacement.

“The closure will be between Hall Lane and Old Pinhook Road,” Kentucky Transportation spokesperson Nancy Wood said. “The daily closures will take place between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.”

According to Wood, motorists will be able to detour using Kentucky 2897 and Kentucky 19 during the closure.

“Work is weather dependent,” she said.
