VANCEBURG — The soon to be hired Chelcee O’Cull as legal secretary to Lewis County attorney Benjamin Harrison was discussed during Lewis County Fiscal Court recently.
With the current secretary soon to retire on Nov. 30, O’Cull will begin her employment on Dec. 1, according to Harrison.
As per O’Cull’s impending employment, the court discussed the amount the county will pay for her salary as legal secretary to the county attorney.
“As you all are aware, my legal secretary is paid partially by state funds, partially by county funds,” Harrison said. “We have the state funding worked out—that we’re comfortable with.”
Harrison suggested to the court to set the county’s contribution to O’Cull’s salary to $9,000 per year, which would then be in addition to the amount received by the state.
The court approved Harrison’s request, and set O’Cull’s salary to $9,000 a year from the county.
Other items discussed during the meeting included:
— Opening bids toward repair projects f0r two local bridges, one on Jordan Lane and the other on Straight Fork Road, with the expenses totaling $19,700 and $56,120 respectively. Ruckel said the cost of these projects will be split 80-20 between the county and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, with the county spotting 20 percent of the project’s cost. E and E Bridge will be working on the project.
— Approving a standing order, which allowed the payment of pre-approved, electronic monthly payroll and utilities payments.
