AUGUSTA — One person was recently arrested on drug related charges in Bracken County.

Augusta Police Department Chief Matt Jones said his officer, Charles Blackmar, was conducting a routine traffic stop when he allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia and drugs on the vehicle operator.

“The individual was trespassing on property and (Blackmar) conducted the traffic stop,” he said. “The person was being arrested on the trespassing charge and that was when everything was found.”

According to Jones, Blackmar allegedly recovered a syringe and a small metal container with a substance inside that was later confirmed to be methamphetamine on Richard Perry of Bracken County.

“He was arrested and charged,” Jones said.

Perry was charged with third-degree trespassing, first-degree possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Mason County Detention Center, where he remains.

The case remains under investigation by Blackmar.
