VANCEBURG — The director of residential services for Addiction Recovery Care will be in Lewis County on Oct. 23 to address ways to assist recovering addicts and their families.
According to Lewis County Chamber of Commerce Director Joni Pugh, Billy Noble was asked to speak at the Carter House due to his extensive experience working in recovery care for addicts and their families.
“I’ve heard him speak in the past,” she said. “I was amazed at the amount of centers there are in Kentucky. I was impressed with what he had to say. So many of those places used to be even more difficult to get into because they didn’t accept medicaid. His centers does.”
According to Pugh, the centers also offer an internship program that could lead to employment.
Pugh said she is hoping to have public officials from Lewis County attending the meeting.
“There will be a PowerPoint presentation on the centers and what they offer,” she said. “We’re hoping to have some of our public officials and law enforcement on hand, as well.”
Pugh said she is hoping families will leave the presentation with hope.
“There are a lot of families affected by addiction,” she said. “I hope they leave there with a little bit of hope that there is help out there.”
The meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. at the Carter House in Vanceburg. The event is open to the public and free. It is being hosted by the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce.
