AUGUSTA — St. Augustine School was recently awarded a grant by the Diocese of Covington to help fund school programs.
According to St. Augustine Church Monsignor Dominic Fosu, the Diocesan Parish Annual Appeal grant is awarded to schools which show need in different areas. The grant awarded to St. Augustine School will be used to fund a portion of Spanish, art and music as well as the tuition assistance program offered by the school.
“The money is distributed to parishes in need,” Fosu said. “We saw a need in the school and made a request for the grant. The funds will be used to help our students in need.”
According to Fosu, $4,000 will be used for the Rev. Daniel Saner Scholarship program that offers tuition assistance to students seeking a Catholic education and $3,000 will be used for Spanish, art and music funding.
Fosu said he appreciated the assistance from the Diocese of Covington.
“We always appreciate their support of the school and the church,” he said. “We would be lacking a lot of things without the grant money. On behalf of the church, school and school leaders, I want to say ‘thank you’ to the diocese and to the community for their generosity and their continued support of our school and church.”
