FLEMINGSBURG — Traffic will be reduced to one lane along Kentucky 8 in Lewis County today as road crews begin work this morning.

According to a representative from the Kentucky Department of Transportation, state highway crews will be working to install a culvert along Kentucky 8 near Firebrick and Indian Run Road. All traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. Motorists should expect delays as they travel in the area.

Officials say the culvert installation is expected to take place around 8 a.m. , then progress throughout the day. Completion of the installation is expected to be around 4 p.m.

As with most road work projects, schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions, although officials said no rain is expected to impede the construction. The project overall is not expected to take too long, should weather be favorable and no complications arise during the culvert’s installation

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet urges motorists to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling to ensure safety for everyone on the roads.
