MOREHEAD – A Mason County teenager was killed and two other people were airlifted after an accident in Fleming County on Friday.

According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Williams, around 7:30 p.m., KSP was called to the intersection of Kentucky 57 and Kentucky 11 in Flemingsburg.

Upon arrival, officers found that 25-year-old Zachary Rudd of Flemingsburg, was traveling west on Kentucky 57 in a white, Chevrolet pickup truck while 40-year-old Raymond K. Jones, of Dover, was making a left turn onto Kentucky 57 from Kentucky 11 in a black, Nissan Altima when the vehicles collided.

“Mr. Rudd did not sustain any injuries in the collision,” Williams said.

According to Williams, Rudd’s passenger, Mary Beth Berry, 26, of Maysville, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. Jones was also airlifted to UK for treatment.

Jones’ passenger, Raymond H. Jones, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene, Williams said.

“Two other juveniles involved in the collision were treated for minor injuries,” Williams said.

KSP is continuing to investigate the accident.

On Sunday, a representative with the Mason County School District posted a message on the Mason County High School Facebook page about Raymond H. Jones.

According to the post, he was a 2018 graduate of MCHS.

“Our collective hearts are heavy after hearing the terrible new of the passing of 2018 MCHS graduate Raymond Jones. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family at this time. Raymond will be missed by all,” the post said.
