A Mason County teenager involved in a one vehicle accident on Saturday has died.

Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs said 19-year-old Tyler Grannis was operating a dirt bike along Flat Fork Road, off Kentucky 161, in the May’s Lick area on Saturday, when he lost control of the vehicle and wrecked.

According to Boggs, Grannis was not wearing a helmet and sustained head injuries as a result of the crash.

“He was transported to Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville and later transported out from there,” Boggs said.

Boggs did not say where Grannis was taken.

Grannis’ accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday. He was pronounced death on Sunday, according to Boggs.

“I was contacted Sunday after he passed,” Boggs said.

According to Boggs, his office was assisted at the scene by the May’s Lick Volunteer Fire Department and the Maysville-Mason County Emergency Management Services.

Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Hull is continuing to investigate the accident.
