FLEMINGSBURG — A new position created by the Fleming County School Board in late June has now been filled.

The district recently hired Andy Plank as director of Business and Finance, a position newly created and approved by the school board. Plank has begun his duties and acclimation to the job this week.

Creation of the director of Business and Finance came about due to a reorganization of the district office, when an individual left the school district’s employment. Discrepancies in the district’s public funds allegedly caused by the former employee prompted the board to approve and implement a new position to better monitor and manage public funds.

“We created a director of Business and Finance that will work with our accounts, however it will also help with the segregation of duties as well and puts more safeguards in place, obviously so things don’t go awry again,” Superintendent Brian Creasman said.

Having a dedicated director of Business and Finance, Creasman also said, not only prevents a repeat of the current investigation of the district’s public funds, but also keeps track of its resources to better promote and provide for the district’s new BRIDGE Performance Indicators being implemented this year.

Plank, a native of Fleming County and a 2006 Fleming County High School graduate, said he is glad to return and serve his community.

“I’m from this area, so everything I do I just want to help promote this area and help the youth and the organizations. The school system is, and everyone is aware of it, a community.”
