Maysville police are warning residents to be weary of counterfeit $100 bills circulating around Maysville.
MPD Chief Ron Rice said his office has received two phones about counterfeit bills being used at area businesses.
Rice said he wants to remind people to be cautious when accepting $100 bills.
“If someone is paying with a $100 bill, take a second look at it,” he said. “You can also purchase a pen that will turn the bill a different color if it is counterfeit.”
Rice said he especially wants people to be careful with all of the scams going on.
“It seems like there is always something going on,” he said. “There are scams, skimmers and counterfeit money. Just be careful.”
