Maysville furniture maker Joseph Brannen, with assistance from Sam Linville position the final part to the National Mine Rescue traveling trophy Saturday in Brannen’s shop on West Second Street. Brannen was selected to make the trophy that will be awarded in July to the winning team of the National Mine Rescue competition that will be held in Lexington. Teams from all over the United States will compete July 23-26. There are two teams from this area that will be in the competition, Carmeuse Maysville and Carmeuse Black River. The trophy will stay with the winning team for 2 years and then be awarded to the next champion in 2020. Linville, a Consultant/Trainer for Carmeuse, said that the trophy will be in use for the next 40 years.
