GEORGETOWN, Ohio — A movie will begin filming in Brown County, Ohio in June.

According to a Facebook page dedicated to the film, the movie called “Chance” is based on the true story of a young boy who played baseball at the Flash Baseball Complex during his life.

“(It’s) based on a true story. An anxious country boy finds happiness on the baseball diamond, but not even his devoted coach can protect him from the pressures that take his life. The story explores the emotional impact of texting and first love on teenagers with a look inside their actual communications taken from police statements, texts, and interviews,” the Facebook page said.

The executive producers of the movie are Pamela and Michael Daly, who co-own the Flash Baseball Complex, where much of the movie will be filmed.

According to the film’s IMDB page, several people have been cast in the movie, including Blake Cooper, who will play Chance. Cooper is known for his character “Chuck” in the Maze Runner film. Alongside him will be Matthew Modine who starred in “The Stranger Things,” and Tanner Buchanan as Colton. Buchanan starred in “Designated Survivor.” The film will also star Amanda Leighton from “The Fosters” and “This is Us.”

Pamela Daly will play the mother of Colton and John Crye and Mike Hagerty are expected to produce the film.

Michael Daly and his son, Seth Daly, are also writing the screenplay.

According to The Brown County Press, production on the movie is scheduled to begin in June at several locations in Brown and Clermont counties, including extensive filming at the Flash Baseball Complex in Hamersville, Ohio.

“We believe that it’s the first high level feature film to be shot in Brown County. It’s the story of a young man who played baseball at our Flash complex for 10 years,” said Michael Daly. “We will feature three ages in the movie. Six year olds with t-ball and fun stuff, 12 year olds with the best baseball you’ve ever seen from boys that age and then the 16 year old drama of some of the pressures at that age.”

Daly said Smith played 600 games at the Flash complex and that he was a great kid to know.

“Chance wore his heart on his vest and was a beautiful guy. He felt his pain and everyone else’s. He had the highest highs and the lowest lows,” Daly said. The second half of the movie explores what it was like to be a teenager in 2012.”

Pamela Daly added that the movie is about more than baseball and teenage life.

“It’s also the story of a young man and his coach. That’s the love story,” she said.

Michael Daly said that he hopes that the movie can be easily seen and found by everyone.

“We are looking at festivals. We haven’t ruled out theatrical releases. We are also looking at streaming and video on demand. All of those options are being discussed with our director and producers,” he said.

Several others are also listed on the page. More information on the cast can be found at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7915464/?ref_=ttloc_loc_tt.
