FLEMINGBSURG — The temporary closure of Kentucky 989 in Lewis County for embankment repairs will continue through the weekend, and possibly into the week of April 16 depending on weather, officials said Friday.
Highway crews and contractors are repairing an embankment slip at milepoint 7.7 in the Glen Springs area. Due to excavation work and equipment in the roadway, Kentucky 989 will remain closed at the work site just north of Toller Branch. All thru traffic should reroute using the Kentucky 9 AA Highway, Kentucky 57 and Kentucky 344 or Kentucky 1237. Electronic message boards will be used to announce schedule changes.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
