Saturday Seminar set for this week

Kentucky Gateway Museum Center presents its latest Saturday Seminar, June 16, 10:30 a.m., Who Were the Mantelles?

Hear author Randy Runyon tell the fascinating story of how a French couple, Waldemar and Charlotte Victoria LeClerc Mentelle, traveled from France separately and found each other in America. Discover how they came to call Mason County home, before moving on to Lexington to establish a successful lifestyle in a foreign land.

“Shortly, after their marriage, and during the terrible scenes of the French Revolution, they emigrated to this country, reaching Gallipolis, Ohio, in 1793. About 1795, they removed to Washington, Ky., thence to Fayette County, Ky. and about 1805 settled at that place.” (quote KENTUCKY STATESMAN September 14, 1860).

Seminars are complimentary for members and open to the public. Refreshments wil be served.
